Title: Crash
Released: 1996
Genre: Drama / Thriller
Runtime: 100 min
Country: Canada / USA
Language: English

Tagline: Love in the dying moments of the twentieth century.

Plot Summary: Based on the 1973 novel by J. G. Ballard. James and Catherine Ballard are a married couple whose sex life has been reduced to recounting tales of mutual infidelity to turn each other on. One night, James causes a head-on collision with a car carrying Dr. Helen Remington, killing her husband and severely injuring her and himself. Subsequent encounters with each other find that they are oddly sexually aroused by the danger of car accidents and potential accidents, and, with Catherine, soon fall in with a cult of car crash fetishists. The group is led by Vaughan, a former scientist twisted by his own disfigurement in an accident, and, as a result, a man obsessed with car crashes as a liberation of sexual energy. Vaughan inducts the Ballards and Dr. Remington into his surreal world of sex in the back seats of cars, re-enactments of famous car crashes (i.e. James Dean and Jayne Mansfield), viewing photos of accident victims and screenings of collision videos as pornography, and fender benders as mating rituals.

Comments: Crash is the orgasm for the life. Ballard's cult novel was directed by the 'cult master' david brings us to the point; most of the people could have considered the movie boring, pornographic or non-sense,well that's because most of the people are boring,non-sense,etc.james spader, holly hunter, deborah karah unger, elias koteas and rosanna arquette form a kickass quintet in an excellent movie focuses on sexuality and modern life in an automobile's perspective.10 out of 10.

Deborah was born in Vancouver, Canada, in 1966 and studied philosophy and economics at the University of Victoria before becoming the first Canadian to be accepted into the highly-regarded Australian National Institute of Art. Graduating in 1988, she went on to star in the TV drama Bangkok Hilton, starring alongside Nicole Kidman and Denholm Elliot as one of the buddhist co-prisoners, and made the leap to the big screen in various motion pictures.

When not working, she divides her time between Vancouver and Los Angeles.

She fractured a bone in her foot and jumped into a dumpster infested with real rats on the set of Game, The (1997).

Her mother is a nuclear scientist and her father is a gynecologist.

Personal quotes

"I actually love auditioning because I usually don't get the part. I've tested with Daniel Day-Lewis, De Niro, Pacino, Tom Cruise. So I've gotten to that point, and I understand when I don't get it. There are a lot of very talented people out there."
