Plot Summary: A college professor wakes up to find his wife has not returned home, then struggles to understand her disappearance. Comments: Simply brilliant. Chasing Sleep is one of the best movies I've seen lately. Its creepy, disturbing atmosphere is as good as anything David Lynch has ever done. The lighting and camerawork are beyond incredible. Very slow, well-paced, gentle on the eyes, and still disturbing and powerful. The acting is subtle and very convincing. I wish Jeff Daniels would get more roles like this one. He's a great actor. The other actors in this movie are good, too. The script is fascinating and definitely makes you think, without using any tired plot devices and clichés. One thing that I particularly liked about the movie is that it never gets boring, not even for a second. Trivia During filming of Rage: Carrie 2, The (1999), it took camera people three times to shoot Emily's character Rachel using her telekinetic powers to shatter glass. The first time, Emily flinched, and the second time she showed her teeth. The third time, they were able to finish the scene as they wanted it with her showing no reaction in her face. Real glass shattered by the blowers used for Dante's Peak was used for this scene, and Emily received cuts on her skin after the shooting. Attended Grinnell College, Iowa. Emily is a national champion in Poetry Reading (1993) National Forensic League Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell. Majored in Theater and English. Trained at the Eugene O'Neill Center's National Theater Institute. Grew up mainly in Chicago, IL. Was a peer counselor at Glenbrook South High School.
