comments:
Born in Shoreham, England and raised in Australia, this Aussie does more than just contort minds with her acting skills; she drives us wild anticipating her next release, so that we can get our "Watts" fix. Although she's a relative newcomer to the Hollywood A-list, it did not take us long to add her to our list of favorites.

After the critical acclaim she received by confusing everyone in Mulholland Drive, Watts starred in the box-office hit The Ring, a thriller that creeped out audiences nationwide.

21 Grams (2003)

Title: 21 Grams
Released: 2003
Genre: Drama
Runtime: 125 min
Country: USA
Language: English

Tagline: They say we all lose 21 grams at the exact moment of our death... everyone. The weight of a stack of nickels. The weight of a chocolate bar. The weight of a hummingbird...

Plot Summary: This is the story of three gentle persons: Paul Rivers (Penn) an ailing mathematician lovelessly married to an English emigré (Gainsbourg), Christina Peck, an upper-middle-class suburban housewife, happily married and mother of two little girls, and Jack Jordan (Del Toro), an ex-convict who has found in his Christian faith the strength to raise a family. They will be brought together by a terrible accident that will change their lives. By the final frame, none of them will be the same as they will learn harsh truths about love, faith, courage, desire and guilt, and how chance can change our worlds irretrievably, forever.

Comments: Best of 2003. 21 Grams is packed with incredible performances by Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, and last but not least, Benicio del Toro. The movie makes you piece a puzzle together which may be distracting to some but personally, I believe it's a brilliant technique. It just requires a bit of patience for the first 30 minutes or so, afterwards, the pieces start falling into place. The most gripping aspect of the movie(IMO) was the questioning of the existence of God and why God chose to put such difficult obstacles in the paths of these characters. Benicio del Toro plays Jack Jordon flawlessly, with such guilt and despair visible through the glare of his eyes alone. All in all, a sad movie with a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. DO NOT miss this one!

Scene Description: Naomi Watts showing us her incredible nipples and bare breasts as a guy squeezes and sucks on them while going down on her before she gets on top of him and they have sex. And then wee see Naomi Watts sitting at the foot of a bed topless, her nice breasts seen before she puts on a pink shirt.

Mulholland Dr. (2001)

Title: Mulholland Dr.
Released: 2001
Genre: Drama / Mystery / Thriller
Runtime: 145 min
Country: USA / France
Language: English

Tagline: A Love Story In The City Of Dreams.

Plot Summary: Ater a brutal car accident in Los Angeles, California, Rita (Laura Elena Herring) is the sole survivor but suffers mass amnesia. Wandering into a strangers apartment downtown, her story strangely entertwines with Betty Elms (Naomi Watts), a perky young woman in search of stardom. However, Betty is intrigued by Rita's situation and is willing to put aside her dreams to pursue this mystery. The two women soon discover that nothing is as it seems in the city of dreams.

Comments: Watching this movie is kind of like looking at a piece of abstract art. At first glance, one may discover what it means with ease, while it may take others many more glances. And for the simple minds that lack creativity, they will never discover its meaning. An important thing to note, Lynch was a surrealist painter before making films, and it heavily reflects in his films. He is the most creative storyteller I have yet seen in the film industry.
I think the many characters, eccentric as they may be, give flawless performances. It's the first film I've seen with Naomi Watts in it, and she is now my favorite actress. She gives an unbelievable performance, having to take on multiple character changes throughout the film.
Remember that film is an art form, and very few directors realize that, and that's why their films bomb horribly. It's quite obvious why Lynch rarely comes out with a movie. For those interested, if you haven't seen his old TV series Twin Peaks, check it out. It's much simpler, but still involves his surreal creepy surrealism. Anyways, I won't ramble any further. Go watch the movie. You'll still love it even you don't understand it. It being my favorite movie of all time and probably will be until I die, I will rate it highly. 10/10

Scene Description: A great lesbian scene of Naomi Watts straddling Laura Harring on the couch with both of them topless as they kiss and Naomi begins to finger Laura.

Personal quotes

'Pain is such an important thing in life. I think that as an artist you have to experience suffering. It's not enough to have lived it once; you have to relive it. Darkness is not a pejorative thing."

"There's a lot of skeletons in my closet, but I know what they're wearing. I'm not gonna act all ashamed of it" - on her early career.

"It was total naivety that got me to Hollywood. I thought it was going to happen straight away. I told myself 'give it 5 years, there's no way I'll be here after that if it doesn't happen'. Cut to ten years later!"

"On set is where I feel comfortable. The red carpet stuff, talking about the film, explaining your own life, it doesn't come naturally. It's all necessary stuff I suppose but it's not my strength."

"I find myself gravitating towards drama. It interests me. In the books I read, the paintings I like, it's always the darker stuff."

"For the record, I am actually British as well as Australian. People always think I'm Australian but I'm happy for the Brits to claim me back. I'm offering myself up."

"Instead of thinking 'how can I slow the ageing process?' I think 'how can I bend the rules?'"
