Open Hearts (2003)

Title: Open Hearts
... aka Elsker dig for evigt
Released: 2003
Genre: Drama
Runtime: 113 min
Country: Denmark
Language: Danish

Plot Summary: A Dogme film about an engaged couple that is torn apart after the man is paralyzed in an accident, and the woman falls in love with the husband of the woman who caused the accident.

Comments: A Compound Tragedy, Well Told. In "Open Hearts" director Susanne Biers tackles a very realistic story that easily could have been but a maudlin soap opera (well, that is an oxymoron) but which comes across as serious, compelling drama. "Open Hearts" is painful to watch at points but, ultimately, it's a strong film because of the excellent cast. 8/10.
