Title:
Beneficiary, The
Released: 1997
Genre: Drama /
Thriller
Country: USA
Language: English
Plot
Summary: A man and woman detective team
investigate the murder of a corporate president, but
because the deceased was a friend of the male detective,
he is reluctant to believe the signs that point to
the widow as the killer. Still, the team take turns
watching her movements, but during the male detective's
turn, his past friendship with the deceased gradually
allows him access to the suspected widow, and it isn't
long before they're in bed together. But when he discovers
that she's the beneficiary to millions that had been
meant for her husband, the detective is moved in ways
quite unpredictable.
Comments:
This
is an excellent suspense thriller. Suzy Amis, a police
detective, matches wits with a very sly murderer,
as portrayed by Stacy Haiduk. This movie has more
interesting twists and turns then what you'll find
in three suspense thrillers. A ten from start to finish.

Luther
the Geek (1990)
|
Title:
Luther the Geek
Released: 1990
Genre: Horror
Runtime: 80 min
Country: USA
Language: English
Tagline:
The Most Rivetting Splatter Film Since "The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre."
Plot
Summary: As a young child Luther The Geek
or "The Freak" witnesses a band of men goading
a geek (a man who bites off chicken's heads and drinks
the blood) into performing. In the ensuing hullabaloo,
Luther bites his lip and likes the taste of blood.
Flash forward some thirty years and a parole board
is meeting to discuss Luther's release. It seems the
cheeky blighter has been murdering folk in the meantime.
A dopey parole board trainee sides with the liberals
and so Luther is unleashed, except now he has a special
pair of customised metal teeth. Luther then proceeds
to "bite the heads off" of many hapless
folk until the tense ending. This movie is most notable
for it's bare dialogue, whole stretches pass without
a sound. Most of the audio is composed of Luther clucking
insanely like a chicken. The film is centred around
a farm and the mother and daughter who live there.
Other main characters include the daughter's dumb
boyfriend and an inefficient local law officer.
Comments:
Odd,
original and entertaining horror. The film concerns
the disturbed Luther, who witnessed a Geek perform
as a child and also lost his teeth. Eventually the
weirdo kill numerous chickens and 3 people, and is
incarcerated for 25 years. Paroled, the first thing
he does is tear an "old" woman's throat
out with his homemade metal dentures and escape to
the country to terrorize a woman and her daughter.
He never speaks, clucking and behaving like a chicken.
Surprisingly well acted, with great fx. Despite the
unintentional humor provided by what must be the stupidest
cop in the state, it's a very well made and interesting
film.
