Capture the Castle (2003)
|
Title:
I Capture the Castle
Released: 2003
Genre: Drama /
Romance
Runtime: 113 min
Country: UK
Language: English
Tagline:
I love, I have loved, I will love.
Plot
Summary: The film follows 17-year-old Cassandra
Mortmain (Romola Garai), and the fortunes of her eccentric
family, struggling to survive in a decaying English
castle. Her father (Bill Nighy) is desperate to repeat
the spectacular success of his first novel, but hasn't
written a word for 12 years; her exquisite sister
Rose (Rose Byrne) can only rail against their fate,
and their Bohemian step-mother Topaz (Tara FitzGerald)
is a nudist and no help at all. Salvation comes in
the form of their American landlord Simon Cotton (Henry
Thomas) and his brother Neil (Marc Blucas). Although
initially repelled by Simon, Rose is determined to
make him fall in love with her and succeeds. A wedding
is arranged and Cassandra is left on the sidelines
as everyone around her is drawn into a maelstrom of
interconnected relationships. But events spiral out
of control, and before the summer ends she will experience
frustrated desire, first love, and a broken heart.
'I Capture The Castle' is based on the Dodie Smith
novel which was published in 1948, before she wrote
101 Dalmatians.
Comments:
Intriguing.
This movie was quite intriguing and well put together.
It had just the right amount of say in it, romance,
love, and some betrayal. I was also pleased to see
that Henry Thomas had a more committed and credited
role versus other movies where he is a supporting
actor who dies and/or has the woman he loves taken
from him. I really enjoyed this movie. 9 out of 10.

Language: English
Tagline:
Be seduced.
Plot
Summary: A young reverend and his wife
are on the way from England to Australia to minister
to their flock. The bishop asks him to visit an eccentric
artist prone to sexual depictions and requests that
he voluntarily withdraw a controversial work call
"Crucified Venus" from his show. The minister,
who considers himself a progressive, is shocked at
the amoral atmosphere surrounding the painter, his
wife, and the three models living at his estate. The
minister's wife is troubled also, and has to deal
with latent sexual urges while trying to remain loyal
to her husband.
Comments:
Stunning
Cinematography and Beautiful Bodies !!! This is supposed
to be a comedy but I found myself transfixed by the
stunning cinematography and beautiful bodies more
than anything else. Sam Neill's bevy of beautiful
nude models, headed by Elle Macpherson, nearly steal
the show. Hugh Grant is surprisingly convincing in
his role as the prudish minister and Tara Fitzgerald
is equally convincing as his almost-as-prudish wife.
The are a few funny moments in this film involving
the models' interactions with Grant and Fitzgerald.
Scene
Description:
Tara Fitzgerald seen running in slow motion in a see-through
white outfit, and then fully nude. We then see her completely
in the buff standing in church, her breasts and bush
on display.

Scene
Description:
Tara Fitzgerald having a blind guy feel all over her
body with his hands - cupping her bare breast and then
running his hands up her dress.

Dark
Blue World (2002)
|
Title:
Dark Blue World
Released: 2002
Genre: War / Drama
Runtime: 112 min
Country: Czech
Republic / UK / Germany / Denmark / Italy
Language: Czech
/ German / English / Slovak
Plot
Summary: March 15, 1939: Germany invades
Czechoslovakia. Czech pilots flee to England, joining
the RAF. After the war, back home, they are put in
labor camps, suspected of anti-Communist ideas. This
film cuts between a post-war camp where Franta is
a prisoner and England during the war, where Franta
is like a big brother to Karel, a very young pilot.
On maneuvers, Karel crash lands by the rural home
of Susan, an English woman whose husband is MIA. She
spends one night with Karel, and he thinks he's found
the love of his life. It's complicated by Susan's
attraction to Franta. How will the three handle innocence,
Eros, friendship, and the heat of battle? When war
ends, what then?
Comments:
Hypnotic
-- What Pearl Harbor should've been. I found the movie
slightly depressing, as befits the subject matter,
but also spellbinding. Loved the air combat sequences
and the acting is top notch. Not sure the love triangle
had to be there, but what the heck--at least it was
handled with adult, not juvenile sensibilities a la
Pearl Harbor.

Trivia
Grand-niece of Geraldine Fitzgerald.
Is acrophobic.
Personal quotes
"In England, people are so repressed. It is all
giggle-giggle and 'look at the shameless woman taking
her clothes off.' When you are doing a nude scene you
just have to take a deep breath and get on with it.
I can't bear bedcovers-up-to-the-chin jobs."
