comments:
Amy Smart has crafted a loyal following with the teenage and young adult set due to memorable performances in film and television. We loved her role as the naive yet congenial Ruby on Felicity.

Amy Smart is far from being a household name but is known by most for playing the girlfriend with the will of iron to pained and tortured James Van Der Beek in the sleeper hit film, Varsity Blues.

Varsity Blues (1999)

Title: Varsity Blues
Released: 1999
Genre: Drama
Runtime: 106 min
Country: USA
Language: English

Tagline: Make your own rules.

Plot Summary: In small-town Texas, high school football is a religion. The head coach is deified, as long as the team is winning and 17-year-old schoolboys carry the hopes of an entire community onto the gridiron every Friday night. In his 35th year as head coach, Bud Kilmer (Jon Voight) is trying to lead his West Canaan Coyotes to their 23rd division title. When star quarterback Lance Harbor (Paul Walker) suffers an injury, the Coyotes are forced to regroup under the questionable leadership of John Moxon (James Van Der Beek), a second-string quarterback with a slightly irreverent approach to the game. "Varsity Blues" explores our obsession with sports and how teenage athletes respond to the extraordinary pressures places on them.

Comments: This is practically the greatest movie in the entire world in my opinion. I don't see how anyone can hate this movie. It had good acting, incredible Football scenes, and very funny party/sex scenes which is exactly what High School is like. Nobody should hate this movie. It is very realistic, and it does a very good job of showing what its like to grow up in a town where they whoreship a sport. It had such entertaining scenes, and I really think that it is an all-tiime great. This movie practically made me want to be a Football player, and i just loved it so much. 10/10. Excellent!

Personal quotes

"Seriously, for me, I'm a real environmentalist and I volunteer a lot when I'm not working. So, if I were to get $2 million, I would probably want to donate that."

"But I have to say, probably when I'm about 30 I'll be pretty, not settled, but happy with what I've accomplished so far. I'm happy where I am now."

"I think it's a gift to become a star, to become a celebrity."

"I want to take roles that challenge me and I want to like the script and obviously feel connected with the director because the director to me is so important."

"I'm just kind of taking whatever life gives me and hoping that I make the right decision."

"Well, I'm also like 23 and playing 16. So maybe when I'm 30 I'll be playing characters in their early 20s. I don't know."

"Well, what is acting but the study of human behavior? And that's so fascinating to me."

"The Butterfly Effect," explains Amy Smart, is "the theory that when a butterfly flaps its wings, say, in New York, it's eventually felt in Japan as a hurricane."
