comments:
It's hard not to like a celebrity like Holly Hunter. Her infectious
personality and spunky energy shine through in interviews,
while her command of her craft permits her to keep those traits
-- like all her others -- under control if the part she's
portraying demands it.
Although Hunter's
single greatest claim to fame is her Oscar-winning embodiment
of mute immigrant mother Ada McGrath in Jane Campion's The
Piano (1993), her trump card as an actress is versatility.
Whether she's playing a comically hyperactive, baby-snatching
cop (Raising Arizona) or a twisted sexpot (Crash), Hunter
steals almost every scene she's in.

Comments:
Very
good film. I really liked this movie and i really
like billy crudup in this movie. he gives the best
performance i've seen from in this film. this really
isn't a drug movie but more a coming of age film about
people who happen to do drugs. dennis leary and dennis
hopper have very good cameos.

Language: English

Plot
Summary: It is the mid-nineteenth century.
Ada is a mute who has a young daughter, Flora. In
an arranged marriage she leaves her native Scotland
accompanied by her daughter and her beloved piano.
Life in the rugged forests of New Zealand's South
Island is not all she may have imagined and nor is
her relationship with her new husband Stewart. She
suffers torment and loss when Stewart sells her piano
to a neighbour, George. Ada learns from George that
she may earn back her piano by giving him piano lessons,
but only with certain other conditions attached. At
first Ada despises George but slowly their relationship
is transformed and this propels them into a dire situation.
Comments:
A
sensual and surprising film. Jane Campion's Oscar-winning
movie follows Ada (played by Holly Hunter), an immigrant
to the Australian outback and an arranged marriage,
who has not spoken for years and lives her life through
the sound of her piano. Her husband (played by Sam
Neill) is a man without much understanding, who tries
to break the connection between his new wife and her
piano; in contrast to him is the wild illiterate Baines
(played by Harvey Keitel), a tattooed loner, who reaches
into Ada's soul and helps her to regain contact with
her emotions and ultimately, her voice too.
The film
is visually compelling, with its muted colours and
wide open spaces, and uses the soundtrack by Michael
Nyman in such a way so all the elements fit together.
Keitel and Hunter give excellent performances within
a sensitive and sensual screenplay, while Anna Paquin
is impressive as Ada's wise daughter, always watching
and always aware. Campion managed to make the story
touching, involving, and sexy, and it well deserved
the plaudits heaped on it.

Language: English
Tagline:
Love in the dying moments of the twentieth century.
Plot
Summary: Based on the 1973 novel by J.
G. Ballard. James and Catherine Ballard are a married
couple whose sex life has been reduced to recounting
tales of mutual infidelity to turn each other on.
One night, James causes a head-on collision with a
car carrying Dr. Helen Remington, killing her husband
and severely injuring her and himself. Subsequent
encounters with each other find that they are oddly
sexually aroused by the danger of car accidents and
potential accidents, and, with Catherine, soon fall
in with a cult of car crash fetishists. The group
is led by Vaughan, a former scientist twisted by his
own disfigurement in an accident, and, as a result,
a man obsessed with car crashes as a liberation of
sexual energy. Vaughan inducts the Ballards and Dr.
Remington into his surreal world of sex in the back
seats of cars, re-enactments of famous car crashes
(i.e. James Dean and Jayne Mansfield), viewing photos
of accident victims and screenings of collision videos
as pornography, and fender benders as mating rituals.
Comments:
Crash
is the orgasm for the life. Ballard's cult novel was
directed by the 'cult master' david cronenberg.it
brings us to the point; most of the people could have
considered the movie boring, pornographic or non-sense,well
that's because most of the people are boring,non-sense,etc.james
spader,holly hunter,deborah karah unger,elias koteas
and rosanna arquette form a kickass quintet in an
excellent movie focuses on sexuality and modern life
in an automobile's perspective.10 out of 10.
